Palestinian Prisoners’ Day
17 APRIL 2026
By Khaled Ghannam
Dear comrades ,
We stand here today to mark Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, a day that embodies ongoing suffering and reflects the struggle of an entire people for freedom and dignity. It is a day when we remind the world that behind bars are thousands of Palestinians — not numbers, but human beings with names, dreams, and families waiting for their return.
Freedom for the prisoners!
Freedom for Palestine!
The issue of Palestinian prisoners is not only a humanitarian cause, but a matter of justice and fundamental rights. There are thousands of detainees in Israeli prisons, including children, women, the elderly, and the sick, living under difficult conditions. Reports by international human rights organizations indicate overcrowding, inadequate healthcare, and harsh living conditions that do not meet basic human dignity.
Raise your voice, don’t be silent!
Against oppression, we stand united!
Many prisoners also face administrative detention, where they are held for long periods without clear charges or fair trials. In addition, documented violations include ill-treatment during arrest and interrogation, and deprivation of basic rights guaranteed under international law.
From the river to the sea,
Freedom and justice will be!
In recent times, there have been political discussions and proposals in Israel to impose harsher measures on Palestinian prisoners, including the idea of introducing the death penalty. These developments have raised serious concerns among international human rights organizations, as they pose a grave threat to the fundamental principles of human rights.
No justice, no peace!
End the occupation now!
We must also remember that there are 23 Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons, facing similar harsh conditions, which shows that this issue goes beyond borders and touches all those who struggle for freedom.
One struggle, one voice!
Freedom is our only choice!
Today, our responsibility is to keep this cause alive, to shed light on the suffering of prisoners, and to call for an end to policies that violate their rights. We call on international human rights organizations and all those committed to justice to take clear and responsible action to pressure for better conditions, protect prisoners’ rights, and prevent any measures that threaten their lives and dignity.
The people united will never be defeated!
From here, in Sydney, Australia, we raise our voices in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners. We call on the Australian government to uphold human rights principles and take a clear stance that supports justice and rejects any policies that violate the rights of detainees.
Free, free Palestine!
Freedom for all prisoners!
In conclusion,
The Issue of prisoners will remain a symbol of dignity and resilience.
The struggle for freedom and justice will continue,
Until every prisoner is free, and the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights.
Freedom for the prisoners!
Justice for Palestine!
